The Road to Success of the Phuket Art
Gallery
With his strong appreciation of art, Khun Tee Rojcheevaphan,
the owner of the Thalang Guesthouse, has explored the town to
discoveworks of art which reflect Phuket's rich cultural heritage.
His efforts have also drawn a lot of atention from tourists since
1995. His dream of opening his own art gallery became a reality
with the help of his team and his wife, Ajarn Suansri Teosakul,
a teacher in the language department of Stree Phuket School.
The Phuket Art Gallery was founded and opened its doors to the
public in early 2005. Since then, this facility has become a gathering
place similar to Kaosan Road in Bangkok, where people from all
over the world, people from different countries with different
culture and different histories can meet to enjoy their common
passion for art. You can feel the history and the unique ambiance
influences which have existed for more than 200 years.
The Passion and commitment of our Thai artists their strength
and determination to carry on the good work for the past. Our
gallery would like to serve as the spring board for our local
artists and provide them with the support and opportunity they
need to open new doors for their work regionally and globally,
so that Phuket will continue to be a center of art and culture.
At the gallery we would also like to replace the despair of the
local population dealing with the darkness and devastation of
the tsunami with the light and hope and beauty of art. For this
reason, the Phuket Art Gallery was wet up in October 2004 and
opened its doors on 6th February 2005 in cooperation with the
Phuket Andaman Art Club at the Muang Thalang festival in Phuket
where our Thai ways of living, arts, culture and tradition from
the past were displayed.
